Not familiar with this one and really looking forward to hearing it. Thanks, doc!
ResponEliminaHi, P.
ResponEliminaDid you like it?
Like it a lot! My guess is that it just got lost in the plethora of Duke recordings that were issued in the early to mid 60s. Sort of like how his New Orleans Suite and Blues in Orbit never really got the universal acclaim that they were so deserving of receiving.
ResponEliminaCompletely agree. I think that after the separation and subsequent death of Strayhorn, he felt freer and did not care as much about the public's response.
ResponEliminaAn absolute genius.
Good point re Strayhorn. You can hear a more expansive sound to his works post Strayhorn - and I say that with no criticism aimed at Strayhorn. He was a criminally underrated genius.
